The Susan Parish Collection of Photography

Vibert "Vibe" Jeffers grew up in a pioneering family whose parents owned and operated a commercial photo studio in Olympia, Washington. Jeffers Art Studio, although successful, was no different to most other small businesses at the turn of the century, with a myriad of small businesses, and photography was a new and exciting one.  Coming of age in the Roaring Twenties, his distinctive style and vision in portraiture particularly were honed through professional studies at a film noir center in Southern California, where he mastered Hollywood lighting techniques and that dramatic lighting that Hurrell and other Hollywood iconic photographers practiced.
