JOURNEYS OF A SHADOW CATCHER
People often ask how I came to acquire The Jeffers Studio Collection of Olympia, Washington back in 1982 and the best way to explain this major chapter of my journey in photography is through videos and newspaper interviews made by others. I am not good at writing about myself. The first major public introduction of what I was doing was written by Vance Horne, writer at The Olympian. After a few years a movie about my work was created by a team of faculty and students from the Evergreen State College in 1986. The first few years after I purchased Jeffers archives were a blur af educating myself about historical processes in photography and local history while building databases. I was lost in the negatives in my darkroom..and, I had to know ...who were these people?  What was i looking at? In order to discover the stories behind the photographs. These early stories will answer most questions but there are many more pictures and stories to come ...as I am publishing again after a long writing hiatus.... join my photo-journalism here.
