Lacey, a vibrant city nestled in the heart of Thurston County, boasts a history distinct from its older neighbors. While Native American tribes, like the Nisqually, traditionally utilized the land, the area began its modern development in the mid-19th century with logging and farming. However, Lacey truly emerged in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, as a planned community.
